Legislative Update January 22, 2008
Author: Kathy Lynch The Legislature was off yesterday for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. The Senate Health Committee has a hearing scheduled to hear ABX1 1 (Nunez) on Wednesday, January 23rd. This is the vehicle that contains the health care reform plan promoted by the Governor and Speaker Nunez. We will keep you posted on the outcome of this hearing. There continues to be no specific timeline with respect to the special session on health care reform.
Also this week, the budget sub-committees will commence discussions on the Governor's proposed 10% cuts. There is no vehicle in place to date to carry the proposed cuts forward. We will keep you apprised of all of the developments regarding the proposed cuts as the committee discussions continue.
The bill introduction deadline for the 2008 Legislation Session is February 22nd. We will post a chart of the introduced bills and CPhA's positions after review and decisions are made by the CPhA Legislative Committee.
